Don’t let the Tories cut your pension
Now more than ever, we need strong SNP voices at Westminster to stand up for older people and against Tory cuts to pensions.
Here’s what you need to know.
Pensions aren’t safe under the Tories.
The State Pension triple lock ensures that pensions rise in line with wages, inflation, or by 2.5 per cent – whichever is highest.
Just two years ago, the Tories pledged that this would remain in place. Now Theresa May has dropped that promise. So millions of pensioners could be worse off under the next Tory government.
It’s not the first time the Tories have short-changed our pensioners. Women born in the 1950s won’t get the pension they deserve because the Tories are increasing the pension age faster than was promised.
The SNP will always stand up for older people.
In Scotland, we’re protecting the incomes of older people and supporting them to live independent and fulfilling lives:
✔️ free personal and nursing care protected
✔️ concessionary bus pass maintained
✔️ £1.7 billion extra to be invested in health and social care partnerships over this Parliament
With pensioner poverty in the UK on the rise, we will fight the Tory plan to scrap the Triple Lock on pensions.
And we’ll keep supporting the Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) campaign’s fight for women born in the 1950s to receive the pension they were promised.
